An attitude of gratitude is everything. The importance of practicing thankful living cannot be overrated. It does not only help you see life from a positive perspective, it also helps you build a better relationship with others.

Thankful living means being intentional about the way you are receptive to circumstances. Irrespective of how it may seem, you choose to see the good out of everything and find a reason to give thanks.

The practice of thankful living gives you a happy and positive perspective to life.

What Does The Bible Say About Practicing Thankful Living?

The Bible encourages us to practice thankful living at all times.

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds — Psalm 9:2

Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus — 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

The fact that man was hopeless without a savior, and God Himself came down to earth in the person of Jesus to save mankind is enough reason to be forever thankful to God.

If you look around, and do not seem to find any reason at all to be thankful, then you may probably be looking at the wrong things. The gift of salvation and life is a good place to start from.

There are several reasons why you should practice a thankful lifestyle, aside from the fact that you will be the first person to benefit from it, it also helps you give the people around you a sense of value and appreciation.

Here are 3 solid reasons why you should practice thankful living:

1. Positive Attitude

Practicing thankful living helps you see good in every situation.

No doubt, life can sometimes be so difficult and hard, in the face if difficulty, you will be doing yourself a lot of good if you decide pick out the good things that are also happening and decide to be thankful for them.

Even if a situation seems to vague that it just looks like nothing good can come out of it. You can at least be thankful for the lessons and experiences you are gaining from such situation.

2. Improves Your Relationships

Thankful living helps you build better relationship with people- family, friends, colleagues and other acquaintances.

When you show gratitude to the people around you even for the smallest things they do, you give them a sense of value, and encourage then to do more.

The thankfulness that comes with an ulterior motive is usually detected; and that is not what we preach. Instead, what makes the difference is to joyously acknowledge the good done; paying attention to the fact that what has been received was given for free. It is a gesture of love and kindness.

Ultimately, practicing thankful living with an open mind vicariously encourages people to do more good things for us no matter how small it may be.

Showing gratitude for the people we have in our lives is a lifetime asset. An attitude of gratitude opens doors and even more ushers in the spirit of generosity. It is a thankful heart that learns to give. The Bible teaches us that it is even more rewarding to give than receive.

3. Helps You Focus On What Really Matters

It is always easy to count our struggles. With a heart of gratitude, our inner eyes catches the blessings in the detail.

If you are tempted to complain about your low earnings, also consider that there are millions of financially helpless people in the world. While you are embarrassed by your old car, some others have not been able to afford one.

Taking a visit to the hospital from time to time is an eye opener. It makes us appreciate the health we have.

Thankfulness focuses your energy on what is good and less on negative events and experiences. The positive energy charges us to hopefully and joyfully go through each day loving and appreciating God.

Conclusion:

We cannot always control what happens to us. Sometimes there seems to be less or no reasons to be thankful. This is the case when we choose to magnify our mountains over the God who is able to melt them like wax.

Believing God and what HE can do gives us the joyful power to control how we see things and how we choose to handle them. Thankfulness is one of the secrets to a sane and peaceful life. It should be a daily and default mindset.
